History of ForeArm RX
My name is Burke Collins. I own and operate Back To Work Physical Therapy, an outpatient physical therapy clinic in Tampa, Florida. I am the inventor of ForeArmRx™.
Let me give you a brief history of my background and how I came up with the idea for ForeArmRx™.
I am an athlete, exercise physiologist, sports massage therapist, and business owner. I played football in college for the University of Texas Longhorns and have exercised and weight-lifted my entire life.
I earned my Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas and then moved on to the University of Florida where I earned my Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology. While at the University of Florida I had the opportunity to work with the UF Mens’ and Womens Swimming Teams as well as with the 1996 SEC and National Champion Florida Gator Football Team.
One day I was working out in the gym and rolling my legs on a foam roller to release tight tissue in my legs. I was also feeling symptoms on the outside of my forearm (commonly referred to as tennis elbow) and thought, “There has to be a way to get therapeutic pressure on my forearm without having to go to physical therapy or massage therapy." I tried pinning my forearm between my body and the foam roller I had been using on my legs. With 20 years of experience relieving trigger points and tight muscles, I was unsuccessful in my attempt.
When I got home that evening I thought about the old crank clothes washer that squeezed clothes between two rollers. I set to work on the first prototype in the image of the "old washer". Twenty-plus prototypes later, and with the assistance of a materials engineer, ForeArmRx™ was created in its current patented image with two opposing therapeutic rollers attached to adjustable leaf springs.
